First, they not "having to make" – they chose to make hand sanitizer 🙂

Second, hand sanitizer doesn't have to age, be a specific blend of grains, or taste good – it just has to hit a certain ABV, and have a few other ingredients thrown in to make it gel: the stuff's more or less brain-dead simple to manufacture (if you have the equipment)

I wouldn't expect a shortage of whiskey in a few years, personally: the impact on normal production has likely been pretty minimal
